A pesky boy trying to get himself a “princess” haircut accidentally turned into Tiger King’s Joe Exotic – creating a blonde mullet like the infamous TV star.
Mylee Howard of Bideford, Devon managed to turn her first haircut into a DIY job by dragging her walker to the breakfast bar, climbing on a stool, and grabbing household scissors to “look like a princess.”
When mother Laura-Michelle Lewis heard loud snapping noises, she rushed out of the kitchen to find tufts of hair on the floor, and her two-year-old sat pleased with her bizarre new style.
Previously, Mylee had three inches of both sides of her head cut off with a braid, and fun photos show the mullet resting on the nape of her neck with barely any hair around her ears.
Laura-Michelle half laughed and half cried as she examined her daughter’s makeover and was in tears before seeing the funny side, as Mylee had always struggled to grow her hair.
The 31-year-old was just days away from debut Mylee after finally settling for its length, but the impatient boy took it into his own hands earlier this month [APRIL 4].
The mother discovered Mylee’s resemblance to Joe Exotic within a minute of finding her, and she enjoyed teasing her by singing the Carole Baskin song – though Mylee had never seen the show before.
Laura-Michelle said, “She did it within 30 seconds of leaving the kitchen on her walker. I just heard a loud snap and I had a pot of water in my hand and just dropped it.
“I went ‘oh my god’ and when I got there all I saw was hair on the floor. She was hiding under the breakfast bar and was sitting with the scissors in her hands. It was well thought out.
“I half cried, half laughed and I immediately said she looks like Tiger King and Lockdown is on her head.
“She has a heavy Devonshire accent and she just said to me, ‘Mom, I cut my hair,’ and when I asked why she told me she wanted to be like a beautiful princess. How can you be mad at that ???
“She cut right from the temple to the ear. She also took something out of the refrigerator, but I can brush it under and hide it for now, but I can’t hide the mullet.”
“She was struggling to grow her hair so I never cut it and that’s why it really pissed me off, but then I saw the fun side of it. She was always a bald baby.
“The hairdressing kit was pretty high up on the breakfast bar because I wanted to do some hairdressing for the men in my life and re-oil the scissors before I put them away.”
Laura-Michelle lives with Mylee and their three other children Farley Howard, nine, Aubri Howard, eight, and Vinnie Howard, one, along with her fiancé Andrew Lewis, 40, and daughter Millie Lewis, 12.
The mother, who took her partner’s name through a certificate survey, found that she’s taking Mylee to the hairdresser’s to get a bob so she doesn’t return to kindergarten like Joe Exotic after the Easter break.
IT consultant Andrew found the situation weird when he came downstairs to see what his stepdaughter had done, but her mom says she definitely learned her lesson.
Laura-Michelle said, “We’re going to try to sort it out at the hairdresser’s but I don’t know what they’re going to do because there is just no hair on the side.
“Because she has to go back to the nursery, we had all sorts of suggestions on what to do. Someone said we should shave her head on one side, but she’ll look like something from Hells Angels.
“I think we have to go for a layered bob and just hide it. I definitely learned my lesson on cutting it earlier before doing it myself, and we’ll keep the scissors locked up in the garage – even though they are too were at the bar the time in her case.
“It’s nice to share what happened because it might make some people laugh at our expense.”
Laura-Michelle shared a look from Mylee’s head on Facebook and received over 200 reactions and 140 comments within an hour.
Her post said: I am now over the initial shock. Let’s see these tried lockdown hairstyles and not. This is my almost three year old child’s attempt to do or not to do anything but the Tiger King’s, you decide! “
