A man collapsed and died while walking his wife and son in one of England’s most famous beauty spots on New Year’s Eve.
The family of three was walking the ridge to Ullock Pike near Keswick in Cumbria’s Lake District National Park when the man suddenly collapsed on Friday (December 31).
His son immediately performed CPR while emergency services were alerted. reports LancsLive.
The Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and Cumbria Police were all in attendance, with 20 team members involved in the incident.
At around 1:36 p.m., GNAAS landed the Heliming 58 near the victim and was followed shortly thereafter by Keswick MRT.
Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the medical teams were unable to save the man.
He has not yet been publicly identified.
A spokesman for the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: “A husband, wife and son were walking the ridge to Ullock Pike when the husband suddenly collapsed.
“The son immediately performed CPR and alerted emergency services.
“GNAAS helimed 58 landed near the victim and was followed shortly thereafter by Keswick MRT.
“Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the medical team, the man could not be saved.
“Our thoughts and compassions go with the man’s family and friends.”
