Trump says he's eyeing quarantine of New York, surrounding area

Trump said he plans to speak to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo later on Saturday. The White House is not considering closing the New York subway, he said.

Cuomo seemed surprised when asked about the statement during his daily New York coronavirus briefing and told reporters that he hadn’t discussed a possible quarantine with the White House.

“I don’t even know what that means,” said Cuomo, adding that he “doesn’t like the sound.”

Trump spoke to reporters as he left the White House for Norfolk, Virginia, where he will make comments this afternoon at Naval Station Norfolk’s farewell to USNS Comfort.

He was accompanied by new chief of staff Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, senior advisor Kellyanne Conway and director of social media Dan Scavino.
