Two die in horror fireball crash after tanker carrying gas bursts into flames

After an accident involving two motorists, a tanker truck went up in flames on an Italian motorway.

The smash took place this morning at around 10:40 a.m. on the A1 at Fiorenzuola d’Arda in Piacenza, Italy.

It is said that a tanker loaded with gas caught fire in the accident, which also involved a car and a truck.

Shocking footage shows firefighters pouring water over the burned-out tanker, with the car and truck getting out in the video.

The clip shows black smoke rising from the burning vehicles and spreading over the A1 – known as the “Autobahn of the Sun”.

The truck and tanker drivers reportedly died in the horror accident.

As if by a miracle, two German women managed to escape in the car before their vehicle caught fire. TgCom24 reported.

Umberto Garzarella, 37, and Greta Nedrotti, 25, were killed in the clash on Saturday night.

Two German men aged 52 are under investigation for manslaughter and failure to provide assistance after the fatal crash.

Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reports the men were found after other tourists discovered their docked motorboat was damaged.

Some locals also told the newspaper that the men were seen eating and drinking in a restaurant in Salò, the largest town on the western shore of Lake Garda.
