Two men arrested after woman's drink allegedly spiked

Two men were arrested after a video posted on social media allegedly revealed that a female night clubber’s drink was being peppered.

Avon and Somerset police said two 18-year-old men, both from Gloucestershire, have been arrested and are in custody on suspicion of administering a harmful substance.

Footage on social media appears to show a man dropping a tablet into a young woman’s drink while reaching for his own drink.

Police said investigations into the incident, which allegedly occurred at a Bristol nightclub, are ongoing.

“We would like to hear from other information that could help,” said a police spokesman.

“If you believe your drink was tampered with in one evening, we recommend that you alert the bar or security staff at the venue, report the incident to the police by calling 101 and seek medical advice immediately.

“The same is true when you are with someone and believe that their drink has been tampered with.

“Adding a substance to a drink without their knowledge or permission is a serious criminal offense, especially if it is used to commit other crimes, and can cause serious harm if the person suffers a side effect.”
