Two teenagers were charged with kidnapping after allegedly stealing a car while the owner’s two children were still inside.
The two 15-year-olds, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged and taken into custody. They are due to appear in the Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Officers were called to an incident in Birmingham after 5 p.m. on Saturday (February 20) when the father reported that his car had been stolen from his driveway with his children aged two and four who were still inside .
The force dispatched armed officers to bring the Seat Leon to a halt on the A38 Bristol Road near the Belgrave Interchange.
The children were found safe and unharmed and shortly thereafter reunited with their parents on the side of the road.
Both teenagers were charged with two kidnappings and separate charges of aggravated car theft.
One of the teenagers was also charged with dangerous driving, driving license and driving without insurance.
