Parents have been issued an urgent safety alert over a children’s bath toy that was recalled over choking fears.
The toy from Chinese online discounter AliExpress, which is popular with UK shoppers because of its low prices, is one of several products from the site that were recalled by the Product Safety and Standards Agency this week.
Those who have purchased any of the items on the list are advised to stop using it immediately and contact the supplier for “redress”. Liverpool Echo reports.
One such item is the “DIY Slide Indoor Waterfall with Mounting Rails”.
The product has a “moderate” choking risk, with government officials saying this is because “it is made up of small items that fit in a small parts cylinder.”
The warning continues: “A child playing with this toy could put a small part in the mouth and choke, which could result in blockage of the child’s airway.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.”
The toy has now been removed from AliExpress’s UK site.
The AliExpress number of the item is 005001606460220.
Other removed items include a portable clothes steamer and hair dryer, and some lamp accessories.
