NBC News’ Keir Simmons is reporting from Turkey, where he hears about Uyghurs, a mainly Muslim minority in China, who have fled what the US is calling a genocide by the Chinese government. China has held around a million people in so-called “re-education” camps. Many Uyghurs describe painful separations from their families and fear of punishment when trying to connect with one another.
