Royal Mail has announced the final release dates for Christmas 2021.
The Post has announced the final shipping dates for items expected to arrive at their destination by Christmas and warns of possible delays caused by a number of factors – including Covid restrictions.
According to Birmingham Live, Royal Mail has said that people should: “Allow plenty of time to publish. Please give up items and gifts early for Christmas, especially for international deliveries.
“Ongoing Covid restrictions, reduced air and freight capacities, high volumes and wintry weather conditions all impact transportation and local delivery around the world.”
The warnings come ahead of the busiest time of year for the postal service as more parcels than usual have been mailed in the last year due to UK restrictions. These restrictions resulted in people being unable to give gifts on their own, and although there is currently no lockdown in the UK, the coronavirus is still having an impact.

Parcelforce has also advised people to send packages early due to delays and disruptions.
It reads: “We are expecting unprecedented volumes over the Christmas season, please try to send your packages as early as possible to ensure they arrive on time for Christmas.
“We are still experiencing delays due to increased pressure on airlines’ capacities and additional local measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 – all of which impact delivery times and add additional delays to many overseas destinations in Europe due to customs delays.
“We therefore strongly recommend that you plan two to three days in addition to our last booking dates to Europe and an additional week for travel destinations in the rest of the world.”
For UK delivery by Christmas Day, the final shipping dates are:
Global Express parcel service
Thursday December 16 to Monday December 20 – Europe
