What To Expect From Pacific Rim: The Black Season 2

Netflix’s Pacific Rim: The Black has just been renewed for Season 2. This adult animated streaming collection is based on the live action movies Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising. The first film was directed by Guillermo Del Toro and starred big actors like Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba. The world of Pacific Rim can best be described as a futuristic, sci-fi dystopia, and in this universe, Earth is at war with giant sea monsters known as the kaiju. These creatures emerged from an interdimensional portal at the foot of the Pacific Ocean. To fight the creatures, humans make the Jaegers, which are giant combat robots.

No brand new live-action Pacific Rim movies have been announced so far, but Netflix’s revived spin-off series got the green light in 2018. Pacific Rim: The Black does a fantastic job picking up where the live-action movies end. The very first season explored war-ravaged Australia, full of giant monsters to be defeated. The show follows two teenage sisters (Taylor and Hayley Travis) who must survive this dangerous world as they search for their parents who disappeared after going into battle. Pacific Rim: The Black season 1 has only hit Netflix this season, and there’s exciting news about season 2.

According to the Pacific Rim Twitter page, Pacific Rim: The Dark has been updated for season 2. The first promotional photo for Pacific Rim: The Black season 2 shows both Taylor and Hayley facing the kaiju with their Jaeger called the Atlas Destroyer standing . . This image promises action and adventure in anticipation of the new season.

The first season ends with Hayley and Taylor discovering the Hunter Vertigo and discovering Mei’s dark backstory. However, little is known about the real identity of this Kaiju boy. Hayley and Taylor think he could be part of the alien race called the Precursors. This is a question that may arise in another season. The Season 1 finale also ends with a mysterious girl who declares the astonished boy to be the Kaiju Messiah. This will almost certainly be the assumption of Pacific Rim: The Black season 2 as they cover each of these mysteries.

In case Pacific Rim: The Black season 2 is like season 1, audiences should be happy with more episodes. There are so many rich plot factors to work out and mysteries to discover. At this point, there’s no specific date for the Season 2 premiere, but it probably won’t be out until next year. Until then, keep checking for updates on this exciting new show.
