Why isn’t Lila Pitts, one of the most effective characters in The Umbrella Academy, one of Season 2 Sparrows?
Gerard Way’s Umbrella Academy begins with 43 super-powered kids strangely born in 1989. Sir Reginald Hargreeves (who was probably interested in their portrayal) travels the world in search of these teens to join his superhero team, bringing together seven theirs.
The Hargreeves sisters are coming together in 2019 to observe a new group (with the exception of Ben) at their location, dubbed the “Sparrow Academy”, having previously experimented with much of The Umbrella Academy Season 2.
Lila Pitts does not appear in Reginald Hargreeves’ super schools. Lila is a season two character of The Umbrella Academy who continues to work for The Commission, although not entirely of her own accord.
Lila’s abilities are unique; she’s an empath who can copy superpowers from one of those 43 kids when they’re close. Lila could have been crucial as part of Sir Reginald’s team and the more siblings she has around her, the more skills she can acquire.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3: All About Lila
Sir Reginald Hargreeves’ requirements for forming superhero bands have never been explicitly established from the Umbrella Academy. According to the first episode, only seven mothers were ready to say goodbye to their newborn babies.
On the other hand, the existence of the Sparrow Academy shows that Reginald deliberately fired the siblings he hit in 1962. Reginald couldn’t have children and didn’t want another, so both things came into play.
The former is most likely responsible for the exclusion of Lila. When Lila’s past for The Handler flashes back in Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy, she appears to come from a caring family.
Since Lila comes from a caring family, it is easy to see why she was not chosen for the first Umbrella Academy, as well as why she was not chosen when Reginald switched his team to get the Sparrow Academy.
Reginald may have wanted a lawyer in his group, yet he couldn’t be bothered to choose from the 43 babies without the mother’s approval.
Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy should reveal the truth. If the Hargreeves sisters watch, the audience will no doubt hear about Reginald (now that he’s alive again), in addition to the origins of the Sparrow Academy and the 43 girls.
Reginald was able to explain why he picked the sparrows in the umbrellas and, as a result, why Lila was closed behind them. Lila also has a big role to play in Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, and she loves The Handler, her external indications will be revealed.
