In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, a cyber virus is now emerging that is transmitted via WhatsApp.
Some news reports about the recently discovered virus, which is spreading rapidly via WhatsApp. Yes, although it is not a virus like Sar-CoV-2, it damages devices, steals accounts and more.
The malware was discovered by Lukas Stefanko, who has a master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Kosice, and pointed out that this cyber virus takes advantage of the fast response features of instant messaging applications, especially WhatsApp.
This masquerades as an official Huawei application which, when installed, must accept it and give the application permissions to obtain the rights to send messages.
The malware spreads through the victim’s WhatsApp and automatically responds to all notifications received by sending a link to a malicious mobile application.
Identify the WhatsApp virus
The threat reaches the user via a message from the “attacker”, but with this malware, the attacker becomes the user who was previously infected, so the people who eventually spread it are the victims themselves.
The message reaching the victim invites him to install a fake Huawei application from a website similar to the Google Play Store.
The malware asks for permission to send notifications and thus takes advantage of WhatsApp’s quick response function and can even send the message while the mobile phone is locked.
