whatsapp will get a new privacy option in the future that will allow you to hide profile information only for specific contacts. Currently, the app only allows you to disable the display of information for all users of the app or restrict access to the entire contact list, with no exceptions.
The change is available within the privacy options as it shows a screenshot taken by the WABetaInfo website. The change allows the user to select the option to display information for contacts except the numbers listed in the configuration.
The option to block viewing information for certain contacts is available for profile picture, description and also for “last seen”, which indicates the last time the contact had access WhatsApp. The novelty appears under the usage alternatives named “My contacts, except …”.
More privacy options
The change WABetaInfo finds promises to bring more freedom of choice in whatsapp privacy options. Currently, the app is “8 of 80” when it comes to hiding information.
When entering the menus, the user can only choose between showing the details for all users, hiding the information for all profiles or releasing the view only for contacts stored in the phonebook.
The arrival of the new option gives users the option to make the profile invisible to specific contacts stored in the phonebook. However, the release for the feature does not yet have a date to take place.
The WABetaInfo screenshot shows that the tool works on iOS, but the site guarantees that the news also reaches Android. However, the extra privacy option has not even appeared in the beta version of the messenger, an indication that the arrival of the final version of the app may still be delayed.
