After checking here that Microsoft has released another round of the Feature Experience Pack with screen recording improvements for Beta Channel users, now is the time to check out the official news for build 21301, targeting Canal Dev- users.
In this particular round, Microsoft highlighted as the main novelty the implementation of improvements related to the use of the touch keyboard, combined with the already traditional list of changes and improvements, in addition to the fixes compared to the previous distribution.
As the first of the keyboard-related implementations, we made refinement improvements to the touch keyboard based on user feedback in the program, including the small layout when highlighting the keyboard to facilitate movement, the inclusion of new symbols for the small layout outs and separated, as well as the settings menu which is more organized.
In addition, it was also confirmed that a more traditional layout will be made available for screens with 12 ”or more, creating the more traditional interface (including the Esc, Tab and Windows keys).
Another welcome innovation in the update was the reorganization of word suggestion, which was also a request from the participants of the Windows Insider program, to make the layout more user-friendly.
As a result, from now on the touch keyboard should display up to 5 suggestions centered on the top of the keyboard, which Microsoft says should reduce the cognitive load on users, at least for the time being offered to some of the users to check for possible performance and reliability issues.
As for the changes and improvements, we have added that Microsoft has added the option to go to file location in context menu by right clicking, update N’Ko keyboard layout by adding access to coins and symbols, the touchpad on / off option in Settings> Devices> Touchpad and the dictionary update to improve spell checking and relevance in predictive text.
Regarding fixes, we have a list of 15 items mentioned, including the 100% CPU Usage fix, the Task Manager error when opening the Details tab, the issue that can cause certain HEIF files not to be displayed ( even with the correct codecs installed) and more.
It is also worth noting that the list of known issues was also cited with a total of 13 items, many of which (7 in total) are related to the ‘News and Interests’ app and the full list can be checked at the link “Source at the end of that story.
Participants in Windows 10 Insider Preview on the Dev Channel can now download and install this update from Windows Update.
