Doctors from Zelenodolsk in Tatarstan, Russia, said the heavy amount of snow on the road might have helped to save the elderly woman from what would undoubtedly have been certain death

Russia: Shocking moment motorist runs over elderly lady

Shocking video footage shows the moment an elderly woman was run over twice by a reversing motorist.

The 77-year-old pedestrian was allegedly mistaken for a snowdrift and survived virtually unscathed.

Footage of the incident shows the unnamed OAP letting a car pass while standing behind a parked car at around 1.20pm on Wednesday in the city of Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan.

But suddenly, the car behind which she is standing reverses and knocks her over in the Russian Republic which is located in eastern Europe.

The rear right wheel appears to run her over, apparently lifting the car’s rear left wheel clean off the ground.

The car stays like that for a few seconds before going forwards slightly and rolling off her.

But then, just as the 77-year-old appears to be attempting to get up, it reverses over her again, pushing her back in the snow.

Eventually, the car moves forwards again and comes to a stop.

Finally, the driver door opens and a man gets out, apparently realizing what has just happened and the horrible mistake he has made.

The footage ends as the driver goes over to the woman, presumably to check on her and assist her.

During the incident, the unnamed driver, who is reportedly 64 years old, was reversing the Ford Kuga out of the parking spot and allegedly did not see the pedestrian behind the car.

She was taken to hospital, where doctors were surprised to note that she had suffered virtually no injuries.
