A new personal trainer who once avoided going out because she “hated” how she looked and who had never had a boyfriend dropped to 8th place – and is now keeping her new figure by lifting weights.

Aishah Sheikh, 30, from Uxbridge, London, lost six dress sizes and says that part of her motivation when she vowed to lose weight at age 26 was to regain her confidence.

And now Aishah, who has had a couple of relationships since her decision to change her body and life, feels ready to date properly.

She said, “I will never forget the day I had my revelation. It was July 4th, 2018 and I woke up thinking, ‘I’m sick of this.’

“At that time I was working as a project manager for a construction company.

“I would just go to work and come home. I had friends, but I avoided going out because I hated the way I looked. “

Weighing 18.8 pounds and standing 20, Aishah says she felt like she was not living her life to the fullest.

She said, “I was just doing work, and I tried diets where I lost 20 to 30 pounds before I piled them back up, and more.

“I was 26, I wasn’t out with friends, I wasn’t traveling, I’ve never had a boyfriend and I realized that I was the only person standing in my way.”

That day, Aishah contacted a personal trainer and told him that she wanted to lose 100 pounds which is just over 7.

She said, “He told me he doesn’t care about 100 pounds, he just wanted me to lose 1 pound. That was the kind of mindset I needed to just lose 1 pound at a time.

“So I started doing weights and cardio in the gym, and after three months I started watching my diet too.”

Aishah’s diet before:

  • Breakfast – four slices of butter toast with jam and a bowl of crispy nut cereal
  • Lunch – triple sandwich meal with chips and a carbonated drink. A cup of tea and four to six chocolate digestive biscuits
  • Dinner – fish or chicken with a plate of rice
  • Snack – four packets of chips

She added, “Because I have polycystic ovaries, I should have been more conscious of my diet, so I decided it was time to do something.

“I cut out the secret snack that I made. I would hide packets of chips and chocolates in my room so I knew this had to stop.

“I came up with a meal plan and researched online to understand what should and shouldn’t be eaten.”

Aishah spent the next two years losing weight with a mix of fitness workouts and cutting out fatty foods.

And on March 4, 2020, she finally hit her £ 100 goal.

Aishah said, “I had to double check that the scales were right because I just couldn’t believe I had finally made it.”

She added, “I’ve lost more weight since then and I’ve finally got to a point where I feel like I have a healthy weight that I want to keep.”

Aishah now weighs 10 pounds and is wearing a size 8 dress.

She said, “The key to losing weight is not to be very strict with yourself, but to get up again when you have a bad day.”

She added, “Most of my fitness comes from lifting weights, and I want to encourage other women not to be afraid of the weight range in the gym.

“I also like to increase my exercises so that I don’t get bored. I would hate to run on a treadmill for just an hour, instead I do things like pole fitness.

“I started pole fitness in May 2021 and it has become a regular training course that I attend weekly. It is really very hard and takes a lot of strength. “

She added, “There’s a taboo around pole fitness which is a shame because it’s a great workout.

“I am proud to say that I do pole dance to improve my strength.”

But even though she had exceeded her weight loss goal, Aishah felt that her journey was not over yet.

Aishah’s diet now:

  • Breakfast – coffee with collagen powder
  • Snack – protein yogurt
  • Snack – protein bars and coffee
  • Dinner – chicken with vegetables

She said, “I have struggled a lot with sagging skin on my stomach and thighs.

“I tried every exercise to get rid of it, but there was nothing I could do.

“I couldn’t take it anymore and found it so frustrating.”

She added, “I had done the job of losing the weight and I had kept it off, but there was nothing else I could do to control the sagging skin.”

In September 2020, Aishah underwent a 360-degree body lift to remove excess skin from her torso.

She said, “I had the procedure done at the Plastic Surgery Group on Harley Street, it cost me a few thousand pounds, and it was an interplay between surgery and a mortgage.”

She added, “At the end of the day I decided that I couldn’t live with my body the way it was, so it wouldn’t make sense to live in a house with that body.

“I stand by the decision.”

Now Aishah plans to have another skin removal surgery in December 2021.

She said, “I’m planning a thigh lift and hopefully I’ll be done with the skin removal.

“I have a large scar around my waist from my surgery last year. I hope it fades away at some point. It will take a long time, but I wouldn’t change it.

“The operation was necessary for me to regain my confidence.”

And since losing weight, Aishah has made up her mind to tackle the dating world too.

She said, “I’ve had a few relationships with men I met through dating apps since 2018, but they all ended after a few months and I found it was a learning curve.

“Some guys in dating apps will stop talking to me when they find out I used to be bigger.”

She added, “One man actually told me that once he saw my previous pictures on Instagram, he could only see me as that.

“Other men were very nice and said they didn’t mind.

“Either way, it’s definitely a process, but I haven’t found ‘The One’ yet.”

Meanwhile, Aishah has set another new goal – to change jobs and became a qualified personal trainer last month.

She said, “People know that I won’t judge them because I was there.

“When you tell me you had a bad day and fell off the car, I remind you that a hot day doesn’t make summer.”

She added, “You had a bad meal or did that meal turn into all day? Fine. Let’s get back on track tomorrow.

“I love what I do and sometimes I find it hard to believe that I have achieved all of this.

“I’m very proud of my path and I’m even proud of my scars – they are evidence of the work I’ve done to get where I am today.”
