One woman has told how she “freaked out” when she saw a spider and her foot was impaled by her high-heeled shoe after jumping off it.

Alyssa Lambert, 25, required surgery to remove the shoe after an X-ray showed it had penetrated by 4.5cm, to the astonishment of medics.

She had spotted a large huntsman spider lurking on the ceiling of her Sydney bedroom, but was then injured trying to kill it with a spray on January 24.

She got close to the spider to release the spray by standing on her bed, but the spider then staggered towards her and she jumped away in a panic.

But as she threw herself out of bed, she landed on the heel of a shoe that went through her left foot.

she said Daily Mail Australia: “I freaked out. I yelled at my roommate and she called an ambulance. I was in total shock and shaking – and then the pain started.”

Alyssa said she called her roommate to pull the shoe out, which she wouldn’t, and called an ambulance.

Paramedics secured her foot by wrapping it so the shoe wouldn’t move before they were carried to an ambulance.

An X-ray was taken at the hospital and it was found that the heel had penetrated 4.5cm into her foot and would require surgery to remove it.

Alyssa said: “Everyone in the hospital was so amazed that I managed to pierce my foot with such a thick heel. They said, “Well done, you did a good job.”

She was given morphine for the pain before having the successful surgery.

Alyssa said she was surprised at how quickly the heel had recovered as she had already had the stitches removed and will no longer need crutches by the end of this week.

“When I received the news of the recovery and how quick it was, I almost burst into tears of joy. I thought it was going to be a long journey,” she said.

Even looking back, Alyssa could see the funny side of what happened, especially the fact that she works for the shoe brand that pierced her foot.

She continued, “The surgeon was hilarious. She said: “This is crazy, please tell me you took pictures, you will want to remember this story”.

“I feel better now and I laughed a bit. It was a shoe from Camilla and Marc and I work for the company.
