Experts say you can hear the very first warning sign from Covid Omicron before you feel sick.
They advise looking out for changes in your voice as this could be the first sign and symptom that Omicron may show you. reports the Birmingham Mail.
The highly contagious variant has been linked to a hoarse or scratchy voice after being devastated in the throat.
The mutated variant continues to sweep the nation. Experts have warned that the signs and symptoms of a common cold are much more similar, which means Omicron could be missed. Even so, the milder form of Covid has caused a huge increase and boom in virus cases.
There are currently over 100,000 new cases registered in the UK every day. But Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter, a leading statistician, said the daily Covid-19 cases in the UK could be closer to 500,000.
The adviser to the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) told BBC Radio 4’s PM program, “The case data released today shows around 190,000 (new cases), but even that we should be cautious about because we are not. Reinfections don’t count … and tests are limited – people find it harder to find tests – usually the number of cases is about half the number of infections, so we could speak of half a million new infections a day.
“This is a huge unprecedented wave of infections and very daunting. It looks encouraging that the cases in London look like they have peaked. “
Professor Tim Spector OBE of the ZOE Symptom Covid Study App has warned that Omicron symptoms and tell-tale signs could be anything from a runny nose and headache to fatigue and a hoarse voice.
Traffic jams, sneezes and night sweats have also been linked to the new variant, which is sweeping the country, overtaking the Kent native Delta, which was first detected in England before Christmas last year.
