GMB host Alex Beresford has explained why the argument between him and Piers Morgan over the Meghan Markle interview was so personal.
Piers Moran stormed off the set when he and Alex clashed as Piers commented on Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The interview saw allegations of racism in the royal family – with questions about baby Archie’s skin color – and claims that Meghan had suicidal thoughts while in London.
Speaking in a column for The telegraphAlex said: “Last month’s interview with Harry and Meghan impressed me on so many levels, from having a similar experience to worrying about a baby’s hue to the devastation of putting someone close to my heart three months ago lies.” who had the same suicidal thoughts.
“Although it seemed like a royal problem, it felt so personal to me.”
Alex said the comments about Meghan and her child made him ponder his own journey as a multiracial person from a meetinghouse in Bristol in the 1980s to national breakfast television.
He also announced that he believes that racism should be tackled more directly in schools.
“School was the place where differences became visible to me,” he wrote.
“Not only did I learn the two-hour table, but I also had to quickly learn what prejudices mean.”
