Heartbroken dog 'waits by bridge for 4 days' after watching owner's death

Heartbreaking images show a loyal dog waiting for its owner on a bridge four days after his death.

The loyal puppy was photographed on a sidewalk at the Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan, China.

The pet is believed to have followed its owner on the evening of May 30 to the place where they sadly jumped into the river.

A resident known only by his last name Xu found the devoted dog sitting on the railing on Friday. Chutian Metropolis newspaper Reports.

He posted the pictures on social media and said he hoped to adopt the pet, but it ran away.

Du Fan, the director of the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association, later found out that the owner had died of suicide after asking officials to investigate what had happened.

Speaking to Pear Video, he said, “We asked the bridge officials to check what exactly happened. It was really dark, [we] I couldn’t see much on the surveillance material.

“We still hope to find a new owner for the dog. We find it too sad that such a loyal dog is wandering the street.”

The animal welfare organization is now striving to provide the pet with a loving new home and asks the residents for help in finding it.
