Mandy Allwood dies of cancer aged 56 after tragedy of losing eight babies

A mother who tragically lost eight babies has died of cancer – and reportedly was being laid to rest without any family present today.

Mandy Allwood, who was just 56 and from Solihull, made headlines around the world when she revealed she was expecting the multiple births in 1996.

She was offered the chance to terminate some fetuses to give the others a chance but refused. Six boys and two girls were born over three days at 24 weeks – but tragically all died within an hour.

She went on to have other children but reportedly split from her partner of the time of her multiple pregnancy, Paul Hudson.

It was reported that Mandy would be cremated in a service funded by her local council with no mourners present today, Friday, February 4.

A pal told The Sun : “She had been struggling with cancer for a while and had an operation before Christmas but recently told us that it had come back. I don’t know what sort of cancer it was.”

Mandy suffered from depression, but was comforted by Princess Diana following the tragedy.

The pair met in October 1996 and again a month later – one year before Diana’s death.

Speaking in 2018, Mandy said: “We talked about her depression and my panic attacks and she told me she had been there too. We spoke about her family and she talked a lot about Charles and Camilla.

“She was a very articulate and intelligent woman, and I miss her.”
