An anti-Vaxxer mother who was allegedly on the run with her two children so her father could not get her vaccinated against Covid-19 was arrested, it is said.

Cristina Mariscal Copano, 46, wanted sole custody of Diego and Hugo Kau Mariscal aged 14 and 14 respectively.

But after a court sided with David Kau’s father in the dispute, the Spanish teacher wrote to him on April 4.

Then, on December 16, David reported the mother to police in the southern Spanish city of Mairena del Aljarafe for kidnapping.

Mariscal Copano turned himself in to the police and was released on charges, according to local news outlets.

Meanwhile, a court has issued an injunction stating that she cannot contact her sons. Yahoo news reported.

The couple’s two sons have since been picked up by their father. During their two months’ absence, he could not speak to them and did not know where they were.

Mariscal Copano’s lawyer Borja Gomez Martinez-Fresneda told local reporters the boys are fine and “any mother would do the same because it is wrong to experiment with a vaccine with children”.

Gomez also claimed vaccines against Covid-19 had “serious side effects” and that her mother took the teens with her to “protect” them.

Health experts have repeatedly said that the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the risks and, like all vaccines and drugs, Covid-19 vaccination can rarely cause side effects, although most are mild and go away within a few days.

The lawyer claims the mother did not commit a crime because there was “a valid reason” for taking the young people away.

If Mariscal Copano is found guilty of kidnapping her own children under Spanish law, she faces two to four years behind bars and loses custody for four to ten years.

Earlier this month it was reported that authorities were trying to track down the youth in the city of Jerez de la Frontera, where the mother’s new partner lived, or in the city of Tomares, where the mother lives.

At the time, Copano’s lawyer suggested that the mother would return with the children if the father agreed not to vaccinate the children.
