A teenage boy was found dead in a bed with blood on his face in unexplained circumstances.
Brooke Tuhakaraina, 19, was discovered Wednesday morning by a friend lying in bed in her home near Perth, Australia.
Detectives have opened an investigation into her death as they await the results of an autopsy.
Police officers say the circumstances of her death cannot yet be explained.
Originally from New Zealand, Brooke had worked in Western Australia last year.
When she posted on Facebook, her family said they were “devastated”.
The article read: “It is with great sadness that we are informing you of the death of your 19-year-old daughter Brooke Tuhakaraina.
“She has been working in Australia for about 12 months.
“We’re all devastated at this point.”
According to the neighbors, Ms. Tuhakaraina shared the property where she lived with workers from a local shear company.
Contractor Mike Henderson said the teenager was found in the apartment by an employee.
He told The West Australian: “She was a wool dealer, a nice kid.
“She was only 19 and worked for me for a few months.”
Her death occurred in a small cancer town called Port Denison, which was struck by tragedy in the past.
In 2011, a mother killed her two daughters before taking her own life in the city of around 3,000 people.
Police set up a crime scene around the house after the teen was found. Neighbors said the people who lived there “kept coming and going”.
