As the war in Ukraine enters its third week, the threat of a nuclear conflict hangs in the balance. NATO has said it will not send troops to Ukraine or, despite repeated calls from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, enforce a no-fly zone over the country. Doing so, NATO says, risks escalating the situation to a direct conflict between nuclear powers.
