A mother protested against a man who tried to rape her three month old daughter in her own home.
The suspect, who broke into the woman’s home after her husband went to work, was found in the baby’s bedroom with his pants down.
The worrying incident occurred on Sunday, September 20, in the city of Vila Natal in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
He was beaten away by his mother, who had an injured arm as a result, before he was caught by neighbors and arrested. The case was registered as an attempted rape.
In an interview with Brazilian news site G1, the 30-year-old reported that her husband had left the house to go to work around 5:30 am when the man broke into her home.
She said she could hear the dogs barking and the sound of someone walking in another room.
She said, “I was very scared, I found something was wrong and I sent a voice message to one of my neighbors mentioning that someone was in my house.
“When I wanted to see what was going on, he had already walked through the living room and entered my daughter’s room with his pants down.”
The mother said she called for help as soon as she saw the man enter the room. Then he ran up to her and tried to cover her mouth with his hands to keep her from screaming.
She then started physically fighting him as he ripped her shirt up.
She said, “I couldn’t think of anything, it was my maternal instinct, I just couldn’t let him get near my daughter.”
After she managed to fend him off, the man tried to escape by jumping over the garden wall, but was caught by dozens of neighbors who had responded to the noises.
Neighbors caught him trying to escape over the roof of the neighboring house and call the police.
She said the criminal was caught trying to break into another house a few blocks away that morning, but was chased away trying to open the front door.
